Solar Energy System

Photovoltaic

A Photovoltaic (also known as Solar Electric and PV) system (also solar energy system) convert light into electricity.

If you have ever used a solar powered calculator or watch, you have already experienced a solar energy system. Sunlight hitting solar panels creates an electric charge that is modified by a sophisticated electronic component (inverter) to the electricity we use to power our lives.
  • PV systems have few moving parts (usually only cooling fans in the inverters), are quiet, and are designed to have long, maintenance free service lives.
  • PV systems are modular in nature and can be expanded to meet changing needs.
  • The sun’s energy will be a constant for as long as humans live on Earth. We can use that energy to power our lives in a pollution free, sustainable way.

Is a Solar Energy System Right For Me?

Solar based electricity generation has a high initial cost. Any renewable energy system should be sized to meet an electric load that has the absolute minimum of waste. A Solar Energy System should not be the primary source for energy used to heat water, that should be a Solar Domestic Hot Water System (solar thermal) and it is most cost efficient to develop good conservation habits (turn it off [lights, fans, electronics, etc. that aren't in use], turn it up [air cooling system set point], turn it down [air heating system set point] and unplug it [“brick” style personal electronic device transformers that consume power when not in use] before determining the size of a solar electric installation. If you have lots of money and want a Solar Energy System without changing your lifestyle, more power to you, we would help you get what you want. If you are interested in living a more energy frugal, sustainable existence and incorporate solar generated electricity production in your life, we would LOVE to help you get where you need to be.

Solutions and Products for a Solar Energy System

There is a (renewable) solar energy system to meet any power need imaginable. Outdoor lighting and living space enhancement features (i.e. water gardens and swimming pools), pond aeration, boat lifts, dock power systems, remote cabins, on or off-grid homes and businesses, whatever your need, we will work with you to enable your project to provide as much self-generated power as you see fit. Our systems are custom designed for you using industry tested components with full backing from the Manufacturer and guaranteed by us to provide worry-free service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size system do I need for a 2000 square foot house?
It is impossible to size a system based on just square footage. You have to size a solar energy system for the electrical consumption patterns. The less you use the smaller the system can be to reach the desire consumption offset.

What kind of maintenance does it take to keep up a solar energy system?
Very little. Inverters( electric component that converts DC voltage to AC voltage) are the weakest link in a properly installed system and their warranties range from up to 15 years.

How long will a solar energy system last?
Panels are warranted to produce 80% of their initial rated power for 20-25 years. The systems will produce power for longer than that.

How long will it take to pay for a system through solar energy savings?
That depends on the level of Local, State and Federal incentives or rebates which will determine the initial cost of the solar energy system. The local utility charge for electricity (cost per kilowatt hour plus taxes) for your consumption, is one indicator of the amount of money you won’t pay for electricity. ROI (Return On Investment) based on today’s electricity cost is not an accurate measure of ROI, but it is frequently used. It is difficult to project the future increase in utility charges, but installing a (renewable) solar energy system now locks you in at today’s costs and future increases in utility increase your ROI.

Are solar panels unattractive and will that detract from the appearance of my home?
We think solar panels are sexy. People frequently never look up and could pass by a roof- top mounted solar array and never see it. Solar collectors come in many shapes, types and colors. There is a solar energy system design for everyone with a energy opportunity.

Geothermal Air Conditioning

Using the nearly constant temperature of the Earth to absorb heat from and provide heat for buildings is the basis for the most efficient air conditioning systems available today. The temperature of the earth is not dependant on the season, as is the temperature of the air, so using water circulated through the earth as a heat exchange medium gives consistent, efficient results. Water-source or earth-coupled machines can be (and mostly are) installed inside the building, greatly reducing the effects of equipment deterioration due to atmospheric conditions. Earth-coupled machines are used to heat and cool buildings, domestic water systems and pools.
